The first thing you have to do, before you touch a piece of paper, is develop an idea to write about in your essay.  Even if you have an assignment from your teacher, you need to organize your thoughts first. Think about a topic people will want to read about, such as problems people come across in a day. Make sure that your topic can be SUPPORTED by information from a reliable data source, not just your own thoughts and opinions.
Next, prepare an outline or diagram of your ideas for the essay, organizing your data into a clear outline so that someone else can understand your work. One way of doing this is to use a four square template or any other kind of graphic organizer.
Now you are ready to start your essay! Write your thesis statement on the top of your page. Make sure your thesis statement draws people into your essay. Make it interesting.
First, you have to write your introduction. An introduction will introduce or tell the reader what you are going to talk about in the essay, so make it interesting or the reader may not want to read your essay.
Now it’s time to write your body paragraphs. These are paragraphs surrounded by the introduction and the conclusion. This is the main part of your essay, so you have to make it interesting. If you're writing something that needs to be supported by evidence, you can use transition phrases such as for instance, in other words, and to illustrate. Make sure you include plenty of details.
Finally, write your conclusion. Your conclusion should wrap up what you were writing about in your essay. Basically, summarize what you wrote about. You may think you're done with your essay, but there is still one more step.
It's time to edit your essay. Correct any grammar, spelling, or punctuation issues that you may have accidentally made. You also may want to have someone else read over your work and make sure they think that your work is good to publish. If they think you should make some changes, take their advice into consideration, especially if this is the target audience who will read your essay.
I hope you found all of these guidelines and tips useful, and I hope you write an amazing essay!
