“I am not good at this, this is too hard, this person is too smart, I can’t ever reach the status of my peers.” These are the words that plague our minds time and time again if we have a fixed mindset. Well, we can change this type of attitude with growth mindset.
Growth mindset is the mindset in which we analyze the mistakes we have made, learn from these mistakes, and always improve on our work. This type of mindset helps give us the opportunity to at least have the chance of succeeding in the future. Human beings, even the smartest ones, are never perfect. What distinguishes a regular person from a successful one is the type of mindset they have. I feel that more successful people have a growth mindset rather than a fixed one. Being open to changes and mistakes is one of the many rules not only for success but also for a good life.
In my opinion, growth mindset is very important. From my personal experience, I can state that growth mindset works. I was always horrible in Math; however, I was open to understanding my mistakes and learned from them. I practiced time and time again. Thanks to growth mindset, I am finally more comfortable in the subject. Always remember, “It’s not the mistake that matters, it’s how you deal with it, what you learn from it, and how you apply that lesson to your life.”

In the fall, my team had an open house to teach parents about growth and fixed mindsets. Growth mindset shows that you can learn and grow from your mistakes. Fixed mindset is the opposite. It shows that you have difficulty looking at a mistake and growing from it. The Growth mindset experience was great in general, because it gave students the opportunity to teach parents about the topic.
I have never tested my mindset, but I do believe I have a fixed mindset. A tiny bit of my brain is maybe growth, but I definitely believe that most of my brain is fixed. I’m not very upset about this because having a fixed mindset doesn’t mean you are a bad person. This doesn’t affect my future and all the great things I will accomplish. I don’t believe that if someone has a fixed mindset, they should try and work on developing a growth mindset. Mindsets have nothing to do with what people’s actions are, and it doesn’t stop them from making friends or accelerating in classes. I understand how mindsets CAN be important to know about, but honestly I don’t think it’s necessary to learn about it and have everyone try and get a growth mindset.
I wonder why we have to know about growth and fixed mindsets? Can’t everyone just do their work, get good grades, and do their personal best? All these growth and fixed mindset lessons are getting people worried about how they do in school. People are taking this too seriously, and they believe that it is only good if you have a growth mindset. Growth mindset does not mean you’re the best person in the world and you know everything. Having a fixed mindset does not mean you are stupid and can’t make any friends. But apparently this is what people think. It’s REALLY not important. Teachers should focus more on math, science, social studies, and ELA and forget about teaching this to their students. We’re in 6th grade. The only thing that is important, and more important than anything, is getting good grades and working hard.

Some people think that having extended school days are good, and some think that having extended school days can be bad. First of all, if your school day was extended, you may not be able to spend enough time with your family or friends who go to different schools. Second of all, an extended school day would cost the district more money. Studies show that students get tired from being in school for a long period of time.
An extended school day could offer more gym classes during regular hours, but the time for extracurricular activities will not be as long. It might also take babysitters out of business because the children will be at school for a longer period.
An extended school day could also benefit by giving teachers more time to get work done and cover the curriculum.
As you can see, having longer school days could be good and bad. Every day (except weekends) children have to wake up early just to go to school, but if there are longer school days then children would have to wake up EVEN EARLIER to go to school. That will make them more tired than they already are. Tell us what you think – are you for longer days or not?

Walter Elias Disney, known as Walt Disney, should be on the one hundred dollar bill for many reasons. A lot of important people are on money, but why not someone that changed something for good? Someone who would not even think twice about making the right choice, someone who had changed animation forever, someone who has two of the world’s most popular tourist destinations named after him. Walt Disney has brought fun to the lives of so many people. That is why it would be fun to put him on the one hundred dollar bill.
Walt Disney was born December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Chicago. He had a hard childhood and had many unlucky things happen to him in adulthood. When he first created his company, it went bankrupt. He had to sell everything. After he earned enough money, he was able to start his company over again. After that, his amazing idea, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, was stolen along with his most valued workers. He persevered, however, and eventually became the most famous name associated with animation ever.
It would be so much fun to create a one hundred dollar bill dedicated to Mr. Disney. The symbols on my ideal bill would be the bald eagle representing freedom, American flag representing the power of being united, and the illuminati, the 13-step pyramid showing strength. Lastly, I would place a picture of Mickey Mouse on the bill.
The serial number on this bill would be W5D1901. The W and the D represent Walt Disney, the number 5, the day he was born, and 1901, the year he was born.
Walt Disney should be on the $100 bill because he was an inspiration who gave advice such as, “It’s kind of fun doing the impossible,” and, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Walt Disney has brought happiness and laughter into the lives of many and deserves a place on the one hundred dollar bill.

Harambe was a 440 pound, Western Lowland gorilla and was only 17 years old when he lost his life. Most gorillas live until 45 so it is doubly sad that Harambe is no longer with us. Harambe sadly passed away because a Cincinnati Zoo official shot him. He said it was a life or death situation. A small boy had fallen into the gorilla cage and it looked like Harambe might harm the child. Officials then made the decision to kill the gorilla in order to save the boy.
I want to debunk this reasoning because I think Harambe was actually saving the little kid’s life, but zoo officials didn’t realize that. Allegedly, there is a report from a website which reports that 15,000 people voted for Harambe in the presidential elections. Long live the memory of this wonderful gorilla!
